I can't help but think that all the rumors are just Steve exacting revenge on the rumor sites.

A switch doesn't make sense to me, especially not with IBM's cell-based processors coming up the line. Releasing a port of OS X for x86 architecture in addition to the powerpc *does* make sense, as this would add to the steady stream of "switchers" out there. I would love to run OS X on my spare x86 boxen.
