I am one of the people who does not like Safari displaying PDF files. I want to down load them and read them in preview, thank you very much.

The tip from macosxhints was apparently slightly incorrect and subsequently removed, but it was close enough to figure the rest out.

So here is how you disable PDF support in Safari:

Close Safari
Open a terminal (command line)
type: "defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport YES"
Open Safari

Back to the good ol' days.
