Maybe some of the civi-space startups out there should tackle this space junk problem? I bet there are some valuable metal alloys floating around up there. The problem would be knowing what is safe to bring back down and what you would want to leave, i.e. anything radioactive would probably more costly than it was worth, but then I guess the US would be willing to pay for the proper disposal of some of the more dangerous materials.
